A little extemporization at Fallasburg Park north of Lowell on March 18. In the background, through the woods you can see the blue stretch of the Flat River. I’m familiarizing myself with my new Panasonic HDC-TM700 video camera, and this video–appearing initially in a post–is my first attempt at videotaping myself playing the sax, and also at embedding a video in my blog.
The Summer Knows–by Michel Legrand
The beautiful, magnificently melancholy theme song for the movie “The Summer of ’42” is one of my favorite ballads. Videotaped March 19, 2011, at Ed Englerth’s Blueside Down home studio.
One for Daddy-O–by Nat Adderly
A nice, smoky head by Nat Adderly set to a minor blues shuffle, videotaped in the basement at Blueside Down.
The Stormhorn Jazz Trio–Club Gig
Another rendition of Michel Legrand’s “The Summer Knows,” this time in a restaurant setting. Besides me on the sax are Steve Talaga on keyboard and Charlie Hoats on bass. Not a studio-quality sound mix, but it captures the trio on the job. Thanks to Bob Ruthven for videotaping us, and also for sitting in with us on drums on a few tunes!
